On Monday, the CLEO gals and I went to Camelot Spa in Saxonwold for an afternoon of pampered bliss. Before all that though, we dined at The Birdcage, and devoured meals like Moroccan grilled chicken fillets with couscous, and smoked salmon pasta, and finished them off with a range of gourmet teas. Anyone ever tried strawberries and cream fruit tea? The Birdcage is a beautiful, tranquil restaurant set in the gardens of Villa d’Este in Saxonwold, home to Camelot Spa. Like the name suggests, delicate birdcages hang from the trees, making the whole experience feel quite magical.

After my delightful lunch, we headed to Camelot Spa, where we were taken through the maze of this renovated Italianate -style building to change into our fluffy gowns and slippers. Each room at Camelot is exquisitely designed and decorated, and I felt like a princess with all the attention my masseuse Iris paid me. My full body massage included heated mittens and socks for my chilly hands and feet, and a complimentary head massage towards the end. By the time my mani rolled around, I was so relaxed I couldn’t even sit up to have it done. Iris let me lie back, and probably snore.
